| An amazing re-union after so many years and miles... | |
The following story supports the importance of documenting components and maintaining an accessible database for the enthusiast.
Angelo Rocca lives in Ontario, Canada. He contacted me Oct. 25, 2004 regarding an unusual Cross Ram he owned, thinking it should probably be documented and he was absolutely right...

The "Rocca" Cross Ram Manifold |
The following is a brief synopsis of the actual research and documentation:
This manifold was the last evaluation piece made for Engineering prior to the regular production run. Essentially, it became the finial and accepted configuration for production. It enjoyed plenty of hands on review by many key Product Performance Engineers like Jerry Thompson and Paul Prior, etc. It holds a significant place in the history of Cross Ram development as it was also used on the Engineering's mule and the Promotional Press Cars (tested on the '68 16M541 and the '69 26B015 Engineering / Press Camaro). It was later released to Baldwin Motion for Martyn Shorr to develop promotional articles with. It appears in many period publications from that time as well as Motion Performance literature. David Parr, who also lives in Ontario and only about an hour away from Angelo, contacted me Jan. 22, 2005 with a similar concern, but this time regarding a Cross Ram Air Cleaner that also appeared to be a prototypical piece.

| The "Parr" Air Cleaner | The above photo illustrates how how the Parr top and bottom plates would have appeared along with the phenolic plenum ring in place on an earlier O-Dashed Manifold. |
The following is a brief synopsis of the actual research and documentation:
Based on the timing of sequences and the state of configuration, it is highly probable that these components were part of the Cross Ram unit tested on Engineering’s Technical Evaluation Camaro and the 1968 16M541 Press Car for press evaluations
I think you can see where this is going... Due to the timing sequences, build configuration which is in agreement, and the proximity of the components when found - it is extremely likely that the Rocco Cross Ram and the Parr Air Cleaner were once part of the same package.
Angelo and David both bought these items in 1983. Amazingly without any knowledge of the other purchase, and only a few miles apart. How and why the components became separated is any ones guess. But thanks to due diligence on the part of the owners to seek out answers, the history is reveled and the parts have been brought back together on this page.
Stay tuned for photos of the the parts reunited as it is my understanding that Angelo and David are looking to get together for a re-union...

I would like to thank both Angelo Rocca and David Parr for allowing me to post this article and especially to Angelo for the wonderful suggestion to do so.
